In a world where school zones are often congested and safety is a growing concern, the "Travel Smart" initiative offers a refreshing and practical solution. Designed to ease traffic around schools while fostering independence and social growth among students, this program is a win-win for families, schools, and communities. Travel Smart is a school-supported initiative where parents drop students off at designated locations near the school, rather than directly at the school gates. At these nominated spots, trusted volunteers are present to supervise and guide students as they walk, scooter and cycle the remaining distance to school. Students learn the road rules, support healthy habits and reduce traffic congestion around the school.
For over 15 years, Our Lady Help of Christians School have offered 2 different Walking Buses, a Bike Bus and a Scooter Bus.
Travel Smart isn’t just a school initiative — it’s a community movement. With the support of parents, volunteers, and local councils, we can create a safer, healthier, and more connected environment for our children.
