Our department is led by two passionate Leaders of Diversity – one for the lower years and one for the upper years – who guide our inclusive practices and support staff in meeting the needs of our students.
We are proud to have a team of experienced and compassionate School Officers in every cohort, who work alongside students in classrooms and provide tailored support that empowers learners to succeed.
Student wellbeing is at the heart of what we do. Our dedicated Student Welfare Officer provides ongoing care and guidance, while our School Counsellor offers professional support for emotional and mental health.
This beloved star in our team just has to be mentioned: our “Dogs Connect” Wellbeing Dog, Lucy the labradoodle! Lucy brings joy, comfort and calm to our school community with every classroom visit and wag of her tail.
We work hand-in-hand with our Leaders of Learning and Teaching and curriculum team to align support with curriculum goals, ensuring that students with disabilities or other challenges are fully included and empowered.
Our partnerships with families realise our belief that strong and positive relationships between home and school are key to student success.
To extend learning opportunities, our Enrichment Teacher offers a range of programs for students, encouraging them to explore their potential and pursue excellence. Our Intervention Teacher works with small groups to target specific literacy and numeracy goals.
We use data-informed practices to identify student needs and monitor progress, ensuring that every learner receives the right support at the right time.
We teach, learn and play on Gimuy Walaburra Yidinji land and our Indigenous Liaison Officer plays a vital role in supporting the education and cultural identity of our First Nations students. He works closely with both students and teachers to foster understanding and success.
We also provide strong support for students who have English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D), ensuring they feel confident, valued and capable in their learning journey.
We work closely with the Catholic Education Diocese of Cairns specialists team and benefit from the expertise of their visiting therapists, including an Occupational Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist, Physiotherapist and a range of other experienced consultants. These partnerships enhance our ability to meet the diverse needs of our students with care and professionalism.
As a proudly inclusive and culturally diverse school, we honour the backgrounds, experiences and identities of all our students. We believe that diversity enriches our community and strengthens our shared commitment to equal access to learning for all.
Inspired by the words of Jesus, “I have come so you may have life to the full” (John 10:10), we strive to ensure that every student is supported to flourish and live their lives to the full.
